It’s been quiet around these parts lately. In fact I haven’t blogged in almost two months. Pretty unusual for me. The last time I took such a long break was in the early days of being pregnant with Imogen and I was sick and tired 24/7 (no, this isn’t that sort of announcement).
Back in June I decided to take a new direction with my blog with the intention of starting that in July. But, I couldn’t quite find the motivation to get that sorted, plus the end of the school year craziness with lots of things on and two over-tired kids. The days away from the blog turned to weeks and months! And it’s been quite nice to take a break really.
Blogging is a hobby for me. It has bought me a bit of paid work and some amazing events and review opportunities that we have all enjoyed, but it’s essentially a hobby for me. My little space on the internet to do as I please.
I’ve been blogging on and off for over 10 years now. I had a travel blog and also a blog that I used when I was in a bit of a funk and challenged myself to do lots of new things. I started this blog in July 2012 when Seren was 10 months old. So, that’s 5 years of documenting family life and I’m so pleased I have so much of that to look back on! The photos, the adventures, the day to day stuff, the milestones…
But, I’ve reached a place where I no longer want to have that sort of blog. My kids are getting bigger and I’m feeling more and more like their stories are not mine to tell. I’m guessing it’s not going to be too long before they read more of what I write and I’m not sure they would want to read (and for their friends to read) their potty training tales (and other baby / toddler stories).
So, out with the old, in with the new! I’ve got a bit of a makeover planned for the blog and my social media this week and then a backlog of posts to share with you! The site will have a new name and url but should link from any old bookmarks etc. That’s the plan anyway.
See you on the other side!
(PS – photo taken from the Wells to Walsingham Light Railway on our holiday in Norfolk last week. I love the stormy sky and yellow fields!).
(PPS – a couple of you left comments yesterday – Jen & Emma – I saw them on email but they didn’t make it through to the post because of the switch over. Thank you for you kind words though and I hope you enjoy the new site!)
