We managed to get away to for a little holiday last week. We don’t go away much but when half-term meets your big birthday (4-0 eeeeeek) then it would be rude not to? I quite fancied cosying up with the family, a lovely bath to lie in, a roaring fire, fields to look out on to and wine to drink. I got my birthday wish!
We stayed at a gorgeous cottage near Settle in North Yorkshire – Wrigglesworth House & Cottages if you want to take a look, I’d recommend them. We had a couple of trips to Skipton, Bolton Abbey and over to the Lake District too. But what was really lovely was spending time together as the 4 of us without the school runs and usual things to do. We chatted, played, drew a ton of pictures, listened to audio books, did some sewing, watched DVDs, collected eggs from the hens and ate them for breakfast watching the sheep in the field next door. Seren chatted about school more freely than usual. I got my pamper time (cut short sometimes by the girls wanting to join in) and generally came home with batteries recharged.
What was really lovely was both seeing the girls get so much time to play together and also for them to spend more time with daddy than usual (especially for Imogen who is – a bit overwhelmingly – mummy-centric). The day after we got home I started looking for somewhere to book for the summer so we have another trip to look forward to!
I hope you had a great half term (or are having one if you are the half of the country that has this week off).
