Chicken Pox!

11th July 2016

Chicken Pox finally hit here last week. Just the 4 year old so far but I’m expecting (and hoping) the 2 year old will get it in the next couple of weeks too. Seren has avoided it several times over the past 3 years and I was starting to think she might be immune. The virus had gone round nursery again in May, Seren’s best friends got it too, and I was a bit scared the girls would get it and miss out on being bridesmaids at the beginning of June.

Once the wedding was out of the way, I was keeping everything crossed that they would finally catch it, I wanted it done and dusted before Seren starts school in September.

She didn’t suffer too badly really, a bit of a sore throat and itchy spots. She mostly refused medicine but let me put some Poxclin mousse on a couple of times. She slept well at night and dozed on the sofa in front of the TV for a couple of days.

When she felt able, she spent some time making faces with the Melissa & Doug Make a Face Sticker Pad – this is currently her favourite quiet time activity and she makes the faces up as if they were people we know (well a sort of representation of them!).

On the 5th day she bounded out of bed, full of life again though she still has quite a few red, crusted over spots.

Hopefully Imogen fares as well when she comes down with it!

Oh bless her, she was lucky to get through it so easily (and you!). I dread the day the pox hits us, so far we’ve dodged it 😉

We haven’t had chicken pox here yet – and I’m dreading it. She looks so happy despite the pox though! x
