Did you know that discount supermarket Aldi sells school uniform? For a limited time only, the Aldi Specialbuys Back to School range will be available in stores from 14th July until they sell out.
The range includes polo shirts (£1.25 for a pack of 2), jumpers (£1.25), pleated skirts, trousers (both £1.50), pinafores (£5.99 for a pack of 2) footwear from £4.99 as well as underwear, PE kits, backpacks and other learning accessories (we particularly like the look of the Time Teaching Wall Clock for £4.99). Each item has one price regardless of size and is available in ages 4-11.
The pricing is very keen, with the basic items of polo / jumper / skirt / trousers being around 50% cheaper than supermarket rivals Tesco and ASDA, 70% cheaper than Sainsbury’s and 75% cheaper than Marks & Spencer (based on the equivalent item at full price).
But, is the uniform any good? We were invited to help test out the uniform at the end of May. Along with some other bloggers and their kids, we went to a primary school in south London to put the uniform through it’s paces with lots of playing, sports, baking and crafts. Here’s a video from the afternoon, you can spot Seren for a second or two during the painting clip!
During filming, the pinafore she was wearing got completely covered in paint (she LOVED this bit), which all came out in the wash thankfully.
The items we tried fitted well and felt at least as good quality as the other uniform she has (from M&S and supermarkets). She loved the details on the uniform too such as the slightly scalloped edge on the polo shirt and the heart zip on the pinafore.
For the first time, Aldi’s Back to School range will be available to pre-order online from 7th July and sent to your home address – https://www.aldi.co.uk so you can stock up without leaving the house!
Disclaimer: we were gifted with a set of uniform as well as Aldi vouchers for taking part in the video. As ever, all opinions are our own.
