A Family Photo Shoot by Julia Sedinkina

25th August 2015

We had some family photos taken last weekend and I’m in love with them! Whilst I take thousands of photos of the girls, I can count the photos we have of the four of us on one hand. That’s terrible isn’t it.

Julia Sedinkina is a local photographer (based in North London) who I met last year at a baby group when Imogen was teeny tiny. Her photographic journey started when her son was born 2 years ago, becoming a mother made her look at the world in a different way. She specialises in lifestyle and portrait photography and I love that she takes her photos outside of a studio – at your home, running around a park or at a family event.

She asked me if I would like to sample one of her Mini Shoots. We met late on a Sunday afternoon at local attraction Forty Hall, the sun was starting to fade, the was beautiful and fortunately, the rain stayed away.

We laid out a rug, got a couple of toys out for the girls and chatted, tickled, cuddled, answered a thousand questions from Seren and stopped Imogen running off and eating grass a hundred times. Just like a regular family afternoon park visit, with Julia snapping away in the background. The whole thing was relaxed and the smiles came naturally.  Julia is calm and has a lovely way with children, being happy to chat to Seren and put up with Imogen grabbing at her camera, whilst she took the photos.

She let me have a sneaky peak of a couple of photos on her camera right away, a couple more edited versions the next day then the whole set two days later. Fast work! I’ve included my favourites in this post, I hope you like them. Now for my next project, to get some printed and up on our walls before Imogen is old enough to realise we only have one photo of her displayed!

If you’re in (or can get to) the North London area and would like to capture your family in a natural, relaxed way then get in touch with Julia – www.juliasedinkina.co.uk

Photography packages start at £90 for a Mini Shoot (an hour’s shoot and 30 digital images suitable for printing), £175 for a longer shoot and she offers a combined maternity / newborn package too.

We were gifted a Mini Shoot to review. All photos in this post were taken by Julia Sedinka.

Oh they are beautiful photos. I’d love to get a similar shoot for us (we have no family photos apart from one i’ve photo bombed while taking it of the OH and N!), but there’s no way I’d get the OH to have photos taken.

Oh, I love these! I have yet to meet anyone who thinks they have too many family portraits. And of course, that is us, I so wish we had more photos of our little family.
